The Baker Family—Our Journey Thus Far

Hello! We are Lance and Ruth Baker and our three boys, Josiah, Micah and Alex, missionaries in Thailand for the purpose of supporting and strengthening other missionaries on the field in the surrounding closed countries to help their spiritual, emotional and mental health to encourage them and further their effectiveness in ministry.
Lance and Ruth, originally from Pennsylvania, met in college before Lance was a Christian. Shortly after he believed, Ruth shared her childhood dream of being a foreign missionary and Lance was amazed there wasn’t a waiting list to sign up. They were married in 2002 and have continually desired to be career missionaries.
After failed attempts at trying to get there on their own ingenuity, God spoke to their hearts in March of 2010 and told them that He was sending them. Like Abraham, He was going to show them the place He wanted them to go and they were to be ready. Of course, they thought He meant in a few months they’d be on their way. Four and a half years later, after much prayer, active waiting, seeking Him and spiritual growth, God told them to now go.
From September 2014 to July 2015 they attended The Master’s Mission with their boys, an 11-month training program designed to equip families or individuals for long-term missions work in remote, unreached areas.
After graduation, God directed their path to serve in East Asia, where they began serving in June 2016. In 2019, they followed God’s leading by moving to Thailand to encourage, support and help missionaries in closed countries stay on the field. Please join them in their ministry by praying for them, as they continue on in their journey.
